I heard my father’s footsteps
Outside my room one day
I know it was that time again
When father knelt to pray

I couldn’t hear the petitions
That he sent to God above
But somehow I knew, deep down inside
That, they were prayers of love

I couldn’t escape the thought of it.
I knew his list was long
I also knew my name was on it
That impression was really strong

I couldn’t resist to, think the thought
I wonder how he prayed
For me a sinner, still undone
One, who’d gone astray,.

Its aim hit target that, I knew
For tears welled up inside
Dear God I prayed, help me to live
Dear Jesus be my Guide.
