Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. a It happened this way: Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. John 21:1-3 NIV
Here we have seven of the disciples going out to fish, returning to what they knew how to do. They had seen the resurrected Lord but were not staying with Him as they had during the Lord’s three years of ministry.
How do we spend our time when we are not in prayer with the Lord, or worshipping and praising Him? We are most likely engaged in things which are familiar to us. What we need to do is make sure that we have plenty of time to devote to the Lord. He wishes to have a personal relationship with each of us. Give time to prayer and worship of the One who saved us and provides eternal life.
