Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” John 20:24-25 NIV

Why was Thomas not with the other disciples when the Lord appeared to them? Possibly he was more devastated than the others and needed to be by himself. Maybe he thought there was no purpose anymore being a part of the group. But somehow, he did come in contact with them again so they could tell him of the experience that they had together.

How much of doubting Thomas do you see in yourself? When times get difficult does doubt creep in for you? Do you feel at times that God is not near? Although we may feel this way at times, it does not change the fact that God is still close to us. He never changes. Believe that He is always close to you.
