WE WILL NOT CANCEL CHRISTMAS

Remember that oldie but goodie “There’s just one thing missing”?  Can you guess what’s missing? Why is it missing, how it can be retrieved? Go ahead and read about it, I’ll wait!

Tune into today’s news media, listen to the usual governmental debates, talk to your next-door neighbor, or maybe listen to your church pastor’s Sunday sermon. What’s missing in it all?  Have you guessed it?  Have you found it?

Just why, when and how in America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, did certain mainstays of America’s civil and religious history, namely Christmas, go missing?

How may we bring these cultural, religious and governmental mainstays, such as Christmas, back to life again?  Go ahead and think about it because your remedy may be the critical answer in bringing back our great republic, and the only solution to its survival.

We will never cancel Christmas. Christmas season is a time for joy, a time for laughter, a time for presents, and a time for family. But the biggest reason for the season is the gospel.

“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”(II Peter 1:20-21)

There are those within the confines of America who would love to cancel Christmas. There are those who have no hope, whose god appears to be the government.

“ Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”(Proverbs 29:2)

We will not cancel Christmas. Our hope is not in the secular things of this earth, but only in the living God of all creation, in His only begotten Son, and in His Holy Spirit. For our hope is in the true gospel, and that alone.

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth. “(I John 5:7)

Over two thousand years ago, our same living God delivered this message of hope to a lowly band of shepherds, and to the whole earth. It was a message of “Peace on Earth, Good Will towards Men." It was a message of hope and assurance. A message for the past, the present, and the future.

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

This message is as true today as when it was first given by our personal God’s holy messengers. This was the message:

"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ." (Phil. 3:20). Those who are of God are not citizens of this world. Jesus Christ sent us into this world just like the Father sent Him. (John 17:18). We…
