At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. John 20:14 NIV

Why was it that Mary did not recognize Jesus? Was she kept from recognizing, or was she just in so much grief that she could not even recognize the Lord? We are not given the answer to her lack of recognition of Him.

Sometimes when Jesus speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, do we not recognize it as such, or choose not to recognize it? Maybe we either don’t want to hear that which is being said to us, or maybe we think we have the situation under control and don’t need advice. In either case, we would be much better off to hear what the Lord wishes us to hear, and act accordingly. Remember that the Lord knows what is best for you.
