“Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” John 18:35 NIV
We can tell here that Pilate really has but one intention, to determine the guilt or innocence of this man so that he could reach a fair determination of any punishment which should be handed out. Pilate could not understand the purpose of Jesus’ comments to him and just wanted to carry out that which he had been given earthly authority to do.
Do we sometimes in reply to Jesus, attempt to sidestep issues, or do we not truly understand the Lord’s response to us? Stay in communication with the Lord when this occurs. Ask Him to help you understand that which He asks of you .
