Minus What?

About two decades ago, this year 2021, there was a two-man discussion between an old man of God and a young man of God. Both were (and still are) lovers of the Holy Scriptures and they were always happy discussing the Word of God. The young man never fail to state that he learns a lot from the old man's pool of experience and wisdom. Years sometimes speak.

One day, the two ministers of God engaged in a discussion and the old one said,
"We are all ministers of God!"
He said this because he never loved discrimination along the line of denomination. The young man replied, "Yes! We are all true ministers of God minus money."

The old man of God repeated his statement three times and he got the same response three times. Then the old minister asked, "Explain your point!"

The young man of God had this to say,
"When we are gathered together in well ironed attires ; each holding his Holy Bible, we all look like true Ministers of God. If you want to know the true nature of each of those ministers, introduce money"

"What do I mean?", he continued, "Give them money to be shared and you will see ungodly reactions of ministers of God."

The old man of God agreed and he shared so many examples from his experience to support his "junior colleague's" assertion :

Have you at any time or point seen the other side of a servant of God when it comes to money matters? How has it been?

There are so many instances of servants of God who became violent because of money. There is nothing such men of God cannot do because of money. There have been instances of Ministers who fought because of money.

For instance, if you want to know true servants of God, give about a hundred thousand dollars to ten men. You will be amazed at what will happen. There is tendency that they will find it very difficult to arrive at an acceptable and equitable formula to share the money. Enemmity may set in. Unending animosity may result from it. I Tim 6:10, Matt 6:24.

Do you know that money is not the weak point of certain ministers of God? They have had victory over money but not over women. So many servants of the most High God still maintain the Adamic nature in respect of lust related to women. There is nothing certain men of God cannot do when it comes to women issues and how to covet them.

When they begin to lust after a lady they will leave no stone unturned to "over protect" her from the prying eyes of other men. The counsel of Apostle Paul to his son in the Gospel, Timothy, is relevant to all ministers. It runs thus,
"Treat older women as you would your mother, and treat younger women with all purity as you would your own sisters. (NLT) I believe this is a very good recommendation to every man of God who is living with eternity in view.

Likewise, there are so many men of God who have overcome the lust for money and women. Their owns lust is in respect of food. When it comes to this, they sometimes forget that they are human beings not to talk about being a servant of God. They do not care about what they eat, where they eat it and from whom does it come. In fact, they find it difficult to control their appetite. If you invite them to a feast, they will want to taste all kinds of food and drinks available. Sad enough, they will over eat each excessively. There is nothing like self-discipline in their dictionary.

What does the Holy Bible say about this? Apostle Paul has this to say, in Romans 14:20-21
. "Don't tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble.
It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble."

This piece is not meant to slight any ministers of God but to call all ministers of God and all believers to re-examine our ways and mend it where necessary as we all ask for the help of our Senior Partner, The Spirit of Truth, to help us out that we might all be holy as our Heavenly father is holy.
