"If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes." Genesis 18:26. King James Version (KJV).
The above statement was God's response to His friend's pleadings on behalf of the sinful people of Sodom whose land was enveloped by darkness and God determined to destroy the land forever.
Abraham, the friend of God knew Him to be a righteous God who will not fail to do what is right. This gave him the confidence to intercede for the land waiting for destruction. The Creator assured him that he would spare the land for the sake of the righteous. Finally, God agreed,
"I will not destroy it for ten's sake." verse 32.
Oh, what a merciful God we serve!
The sad part of the whole story was that it was an impossible task to gather a cluster of ten righteous people in Sodom. God and Abraham, his friend, agreed on ten but only three were found, Lot and his two daughters.
The wife of Lot left Sodom but she violated the rules of the Angel who were sent to destroy the land by looking back, so she became a pillar of salt. The full story is contained in Genesis chapter nineteen.
There are great benefits when saints are gathered together!
The Righteous are the salt of the earth. They preserve the earth most especially where they are many. The earth will be spared for their sake. Peace and tranquility will reign for their sake.
Before creation, the Holy Bible records,
"And the earth was without form and void,; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Genesis 1:2.
Of all the four cardinal problems at that time, darkness was first tackled by God. Genesis 1:3, reveals,
"And God said, Let there be light: and there is light."
Then all other things were taken care of perfectly. There is darkness everywhere on the surface of the earth today, it is only the presence of the righteous that can preserve it from being destroyed.
When the Lord Jesus Christ was educating His disciples on the signs of the end time period, He declared a time of great and long tribulation, He also added conclusively, "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake, those days shall be shortened." Matthew 24:22.
My beloved reader, have you joined the clusters of the righteous? Are you one of Christ's saints? It is of great value for you, your household and the world at large. The Lord will be with you wherever you are or go. His light will shine in you that His light will be seen in you everywhere. Become a righteous man today because tomorrow may be too late. You only need to forsake your wrong way of thinking, talking and acting and believing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God and you will be saved; you and your household.
Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
WORDS OF SALVATION
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3::35-36.
