It is evident that leadership position has come to stay with mankind and cannot be done away with. It is even not man-made; it is a divine arrangement.

This is because the Creator is a God of order. After creating everything, He instructed the first man to dominate all He had created, Genesis 1:26,28. The New Living Translation used the words "reign" and "govern" instead of "dominate".

It then can be safely depicted that government or governance started in the Garden of Eden.

Do you know that it is not only other creatures that need to be governed? As humans reign over other creatures, the Lord provided for orderliness among human beings. Adam not only gave names to every creature but he was the one who coined the name "woman". His reason was because a woman was taken out of a man, Genesis 2:23.

Leadership position began from the home front. The man is the leader. Adam started with Eve and continued as children were added to them.

As it was, so it is. The Scriptures revealed, "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the Church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything." Ephesians 5:23-24.

Let me reiterate it here that leadership is not in any way synonymous with" controlling" or "dictatorship". So, being the head of a woman does not mean she is less important and needs to be controlled by forcing your opinions on her.

Leadership is all about service to others who are your subjects. Leadership goes with responsibility. It entails "fruitfulness, multiplication, replenishing and domination." Genesis 1:28.

The strong weapon that can be used to do this is "love" and "self sacrifice". About the nuclear family, before any children are added, the Scriptures reveals,
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loveth the church, and gave himself for it." These are words of encouragement from Apostle Paul to the Ephesian Christians which is applicable to all other members of Christ's body today.

It is certain that Jesus Christ Himself demonstrated this by washing the feet of His disciples in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as contained in John 13:14,saying,
"If I then, your Lord and master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet."

That is leadership and service for you.

I love the words of Joseph, the son of Jacob, in Genesis 50:19-21,
"Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring it, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Now therefore fear ye not; I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them."

Beloved reader, what are you doing with your present position, as a leader? You are occupying a position today, ruminate over it: what good have you done or are you doing to your PEOPLE? Do not disappoint your Creator who chose to entrust you with the position, act right.
