David’s Psalm 110 Prophecy

Scriptural references:

¹The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

² The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!

³ Your people shall be willing In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.
⁴ The Lord has sworn And will not relent, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

⁵ The Lord is at your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath.
⁶ He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies,
He shall execute the heads of many countries.
⁷ He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; Therefore He shall lift up the head.

Sermon:

Isn’t it amazing how David who lived several centuries before the birth of Christ would prophesy about events that would take place after Christ’s death and resurrection with such clarity? Here, David prophesied about how Christ would sit at the right hand of God the Father in Heaven till the time of his second coming. David also wrote about the time when Christ will come and war against the antichrist and his cohorts in the Battle of Armageddon on the earth. In the Psalm 110 prophecy, David also wrote about Christ’s kingship and eternal priesthood. Christ will reign on earth and rule from Jerusalem for a thousand years, and thereafter reign forever in the new earth and new heaven. Part of the prophecy has been fulfilled and is being fulfilled. While the remaining part is yet to be fulfilled

Mark 16:19, Luke 22:69, 1 Corinthians 15:25, Hebrews 10:12-13, Hebrews 12:2,  Acts 1:6,11 and Acts 3:21 etc. are confirmations of David’s Psalm 110 prophecy.

In the first verse of the Psalm 110 prophecy, David said,

The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”

Here, he referred to God the Father as LORD and referred to Christ as Lord. He prophesied about Jesus’ reward of sitting at the right hand of power which he earned after dying for mankind and resurrecting on the third day. Mark 16:19 and Luke 22:69 confirm this prophecy.

In the second verse, David mentioned,

The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!

Here he wrote about Christ’s dominion over his enemies. God the Father has given Christ all power in heaven and on earth, power over all things, and power over his enemies. Ephesians 1:22, 1 Corinthians 15:27, Philippians 2:9-11, and Matthew 28:18 confirm this word.

In the third verse, David wrote,

Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.

Here He wrote about the Lord’s people and their willingness to serve. He also wrote about holiness and strength.

In the fourth verse, David mentioned,

The Lord has sworn And will not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

Here, David wrote about Christ's priesthood, which is after the pattern of Melchizedek, King of Salem.

In the fifth verse, David wrote,

The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath.

Here, David wrote about the Lord’s presence and his victory over his enemies in the future battle of Armageddon.

In the sixth verse, David mentioned,
                   He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries.

Here, David continued to write about the Lord’s victory in the future battle of Armageddon.

In the seventh verse, David wrote,
             He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; Therefore He shall lift up the head.

David concluded by writing further the Lord’s victory. He will lift up the head signifies victory.

As Christians and followers of Christ, we are seated with Christ in heaven, according to Ephesians 2:6. As members of the body of Christ, we are partakers of his power and dominion. Therefore the Church of Christ and believers on earth should operate in this divine dominion and power. As a believer, you should operate in this God-given authority. It is your birthright and inheritance as a child of God. Even though there is darkness on the earth, the light of God is on you. Therefore walk in this consciousness and shine as the light of the world, living in dominion and walking in victory. Selah
