Be Not Troubled And Afraid

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27c NIV

John 14 opens with Jesus saying “Let not your hearts be troubled.” Here He repeats it again. Oh how our Lord wishes us to know that in Him we need not have troubled hearts. Oh yes, this world can bring troubles into our life, but our eternity is not in this world, but in Jesus Christ. Nothing in our eternal destiny is changed by the trials of this world. When you feel as if your heart is troubled, turn to Jesus Christ. He is there for you.

Now, here Jesus also says to not be afraid. With God for us, of what should we be afraid? What can be taken from us other than that which is of this world? If David was not in fear when standing before Goliath, then why should we fear? Jesus stands with us. He is our salvation and protection.
