My Gift is NOT Your Gift

He said, “Sin is anything that does not glorify God, and I prefer “sins” not be mentioned when you teach unless you are speaking about YOUR sins.”

The caption statement that sin is anything that does not glorify God is a true statement. The problem is – it was in response to the subject of teaching and preaching of the specific sins, as identified to us in the Scriptures.

Many Pastors of today do not want “sins” mentioned in the pulpit or from the lectern because...Well, I don’t know because WHY!

My response to his description of “sin” is that it makes a really good summation statement about sin BUT, it is a poor teaching style.

My professional background is medicine. In medical training I was not taught any procedure by a single caption statement. Each procedure, each disease, every process was taught in detail, often excruciating detail.

No one who recalls any subject that they learned in school will recall a single captioned learning. NO! We remember attending school 5 days a week, writing, listening, testing, and home work ad nausea. THAT is HOW we learned.

Scripture says we, “Learn line upon line, precept upon precept.” In other words, “in detail.”

So, I ask, “Do Pastors think that new or untaught believers can absorb the details, as God presents those descriptions in our Texts, which He calls rights and wrongs, by a single caption descriptor? It cannot happen. It is then that God’s statement, “My people are destroyed by the lack of knowledge.” becomes true.

It was God, “Who gave some to be Teachers, it is the Holy Spirit Who gives the voice and the words of a Teacher confirmation of what is spoken to the hearer.

I am asking IF the gift of Pastor has seriously been changed? The Teacher cannot replace the Pastor. The Pastor cannot SEE what the Teacher can SEE. It is not in their gift. The gifts are all different, designed that way by the Holy Spirit.

It seems that the local Church, each one, has a fully authoritative Pope who alone decides everything.

Overall, the Church is no longer a Five Fold shared ministry operating with the many eyes of the various Gifts of Holy Spirit.

The reason the Lord has identified activities and labeled them as right and wrong IS NOT to bring condemnation upon us but rather to educate us.

As a child, did any one hear things like, “Stay out of highway, you’ll be killed.”

OR, “Don’t touch the hot stove, you’ll get burned.”

OR, “Brush your teeth so they won’t rot.”

THOSE were not threats or accusations they were INSTRUCTIONS to keep us safe. They were told to us out of love for us.

That’s WHY God wants us educated about wrong and right actions, and the tactics of the Devil, so we can be blessed and kept safe.

So, I am taking the tape off my mouth. I am tired of seeing persons who have embraced Jesus as Savior living in sinful behaviors because no one has explained to them from the Scriptures how to identify God’s standards apart from the World’s standards.

Captioned descriptors of sin will not help learners to unravel the details and understand how to become real Disciples of Jesus.
