Lord God,

As I struggle with the daily pressures and struggles of life,

It feels so easy to just get caught up in my own thoughts,

My mind is preoccupied by what task I need to get done next,

And I don’t even have time to relax,

I am constantly distracted by my own needs and wants,

That I rarely think about the needs and wants of others,

I am so caught up in the trap of chasing after comfort and security,

That I no longer seek after your will,

Lord, I repent of my self-centredness,

I pray that you would teach me to cast my focus away from myself,

And return back to you,

Teach me to cast my mind to the example of Christ,

Who did not come into this world to live for his own desires and needs,

But came to be a servant of mankind,

And to give his life for our salvation,

I pray that you would empower me to follow his example,

In putting the needs of others above my own,

And in prioritising your will for my life,

Above whatever personal plans or desires I have,

When I am tempted to think that the world only revolves around me,

Remind me that I was made to glorify you,

When I become preoccupied with my own plans for the future,

Remind me that your plans for me are far greater than anything I could pursue on my own,

When I am tempted to store up earthly treasures for myself,

Remind me that there is more blessing in giving to others,

And when I am overwhelmed by the trials and storms around me,

Remind me that all of my cares and worries are in your loving hands,

And that as I entrust myself to you,

I am freed up to focus on and care for others in need,

And bring them the same blessing and comfort that I receive from you.
