JOY's JOURNEY

It grows
Like a bubble, deep,
Buried in my soul.
It’s first beginnings
But a promise
Of all this heart can hold.

It awakens
As the day is birthed
And the sun begins to shine,
Its colors cast
Upon the hills
In deepest amber and purest wine.

It sings
Its melody sweet and fair,
The tune carried in each song
That fills the skies
As birds do sing
And I must join along.

It flows
Upon the rivers
Of the breeze that strokes my face
And I can feel
Its gentle touch
In nearly any place.

It strengthens
All throughout the day
As my eyes begin to see
The wondrous touches
That God has sent
Especially for me.

It reflects
The song of heaven
In every smile that I pass.
And eyes that fill
With laughter
Become its looking glass.

It feeds
On every wave that rolls
Across the cloudy sky.
Its spirit’s felt
In wings stretched forth
In all the birds that fly.

It knows
The secrets carried still
In every babe’s embrace
Of peace and faith
And endless love
And overflowing grace.

It multiples
In countless ways
Through each and every day.
Until it fills
My soul full up
As I learn to walk its way.

It gives
From morn to setting sun
And never does run out.
And with its presence
Hope’s reborn
Whenever it’s about.

It lives
To whisper of God’s love
In every breath it brings.
And longs to teach
My faith to soar
Upon the Savior’s wings.

Joy’s born
Afresh within my soul,
Wrapped about me every day.
And if I listened
For its song,
With rejoicing I can pray.
