Blinded And Hardened

For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them.” Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him. John 12:39-41 NIV

Yes, Isaiah foresaw the glory of the Lord, and saw that even though He did many wonderous things many would not believe in Him due to eyes which could not see and hearts which could not feel the wonders of Truth. How it must have hurt the prophet when he foretold of these leaders. Jesus also I am sure was troubled, as He knew these Jewish leaders were condemning themselves to an eternity with no hope, banished from the presence of God.
