I do not like to travel long distance mainly because of one major reason, that upon arriving at my destination I realise I left at least or two of essential material that I need to make the trip a success. It is especially so on those trips requiring overnight stay where I leave behind a toothbrush, towel or essential clothing items. At least those items that I can share with anyone I can find replacements, but for those that I can share, this becomes a nightmare. I have had to part with a fortune to get a toothbrush, towel or pair of shorts in rural stores for the mistake of lack of adequate preparation.
Going to Heaven is one long distance trip that I absolutely and ultimately like to take. It involves a lot of preparation on my part. There are some responsibilities that border on communal Christian responsibilities that we as a Christian body are supposed to take of. However, there are some personal responsibilities that we each personally must fulfil in order to truly belong to the Christian body under Christ as our Leader, Commander and God. Truly the communal responsibilities emanate from personal responsibilities as the personal ones are meant to sponsor the totality of the communal ones. Meeting essential responsibilities will make for a successful trip to Heaven for some while the lack of preparedness will leave others perplexed at the end of the journey, as they may not reach their destination.
The story of the ten virgins highlights the destinies of two groups in a bid to make it as successful Christians. One group never prepared enough fuel to last the night and where eventually thrown out of the celebrations. The other group was well prepared and enjoy the wedding celebration. The oil was the essential element that could never be shared between the bridesmaids. While all were invited to be bridesmaids, preparedness determined whether one made it as bridesmaids or remained outside while putting on the dresses worn by other bridesmaids who were inside celebrating.
Essentially the journey to Heaven involves accepting Jesus as one’s Saviour. The saving part involves washing away of the sins that we hold dear in hearts through the Blood of the Lamb. Giving up our sins and adhering to a prayerful study of the Scriptures on a daily basis to understand the will of the Father. Let us then prepare our selves for the ultimate journey to eternal life.
