The best gift we can ever gift to our children is the gift of our pious and holy life, which will be an example for them to follow, a living message that will speak to them and the very reason for God to bless them.

Believe me this would work much better than all the rebukes we may ever hail on our children and all the times we may have to push them in God’s way while we ourselves linger on unholy grounds.

I would like to agree with your comment, but I can't. Never will the greatest gift to our children be ourselves, and the holy and pious things we do.

We must never allow our children to live within those limitations, or, that their motive is to receive something.

Our job is to serve him with our whole being. We are to conform to his son Jesus. We are to pick up our cross daily. We are to deny ourselves. We are to lay down our lives as the greatest sign of love to another human.

Yes, blessings come, but never because of anything we do. They come because of who God is.
