Prayer For People Who Are Homeless

Lord God,

Although I am blessed to live in a home,

I know that many people do not have the same luxury,

Many people around me do not have their own place to return to at the end of each day,

Or have a warm bed to sleep in at night,

Lord, please watch over all the people around me who are homeless,

Please provide for their daily needs,

And keep them safe from harm on the streets,

Please provide them with warm shelter,

And bless them with people who will love and keep them company,

I pray also for those on the streets,

Who have been caught up in addictions and negative behaviours,

Please bring healing to their lives,

And free them from their slavery to sin,

But for others who have become homeless,

Through no fault of their own,

Or through circumstances that were largely out of their control,

Please provide them with comfort and hope,

Through all of the struggles and discouragements that they face,

Please bless all the people who are homeless,

I pray that you would raise up messengers of the gospel,

Who will bring the message of hope and love in Jesus,

To all of these people in our streets and communities,

So that they may know that they are not forsaken,

But that they are loved by a God who seeks a personal relationship with each one of them,

Please also open up opportunities for the people who are homeless,

So that they would be able to find education, employment and housing,

And eventually reach the place where they can support themselves again,

But Lord, I also pray that you would fill my heart with love for these people,

So that I would not remain indifferent to the people living on the streets around me,

Teach me to be willing and ready to do good to them wherever I can,

And give me wisdom for how I can best serve them,

Please also build in me a heart of generosity,

So that I would cheerfully give of my resources to provide for these people’s needs,

Whenever the appropriate opportunity arises,

And send me out as one of your ministers of your gospel,

So that all people in our streets and communities,

Regardless of how unimportant they may seem in the eyes of the world,

Would receive the one true hope of salvation.
