Even They Did Not Understand

At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him. John 12:16 NIV

Is it not interesting that those who were closest to the Lord, and believed in all He said and taught did not comprehend all that was to happen to Him and how it was all prophesied? These were men who had not been schooled in scripture study. How could they understand at this point in time? They had not yet received the Holy Spirit. God’s thoughts are not ours, nor are His ways ours. So, if God, in Spirit was not yet dwelling within these men how would they possibly understood the plan of God?

Even today, we who are indwelled with the Holy Spirit still cannot totally grasp the totality of God’s thoughts and actions. We must have faith and believe in the total deity of God, and the goodness of everything which He does. We will better understand when we spend eternity in His presence.
