Lord God,

I confess that I have been slipping for a while now,

And I grieve that I have strayed away from the right path,

I feel like my faith in you is growing weaker with each passing day,

And I know that I can’t keep going down this road,

Lord, have mercy on this poor sinner,

And please restore to me the joy of knowing that I am loved and saved,

I thank you that as I confess my sins to you now,

I can be assured of my forgiveness in Jesus,

Yet Lord, only you have the power to lift me up from where I have fallen,

Only you have the power to change my wicked heart,

So I pray for courage now,

Although it would be easier to deny or minimize my sins,

I pray that you would convict me of the gravity of how far I have truly fallen,

And that you would show me the ways in which my life needs to change,

Please renew me by your Spirit,

As I seek to put these necessary changes into practice,

And continue to surround me with godly mentors and Christians,

Who will lovingly correct and support me through this time of growth,

Please renew me in my love and obedience to you,

As I recommit myself to seeking after your will each day,

I pray for the humility,

To return to your teachings which I have strayed away from,

And to once again sit under your Word and allow it to transform my life,

No matter how painful this process may be,

Lord, although it may seem impossible for me to change my current situation,

I know that you have not given up on me,

So as I continue to put my hope and trust in you,

May you do your greater work in me beyond all that I can imagine.
