The words we speak,

Set fire to our lives,

Hit harder than any punch,

Create scars that never seem to fade,

The words we speak,

Destroy hopes and dreams,

Give praises to the wicked and vile,

Blind us to the beauty of the world,

The words we speak,

Create division between the closet friends,

Condemn people as outcasts,

Steal away peace from our lives,

The words we speak,

Reveal the darkest desires of our hearts,

Blaspheme the God we claim to love,

Lay bare the helplessness of men,

But the words we speak,

Also open the doors for new relationships,

Shine forth love in all its colours,

Tightening the bonds of friendship,

The words we speak,

Bring calm to the fiercest storms,

Cancel debts,

Create companions out of enemies,

The words we speak,

Invite others to know our deepest fears,

And to share in our greatest joys,

Laying bare the intricacies of our hearts to one another,

The words we speak,

Bring healing to hidden wounds,

Refresh the tired and weary,

Give hope to the broken in spirit,

The words we speak,

Light the way to wisdom,

Save a fool from death,

Lead the simple to new heights,

The words we speak,

Give strength to weak hands,

Lift us up from the pits of failure,

Inspire greatness,

The words we speak,

Give praise to the God of creation,

Keep no secrets of the goodness of his works,

Echo forth his truths day and night,

May God grant us the gift of pure hearts,

And may his Spirit ever strengthen our resolve,

To bring love instead of hate,

Truth instead of lies,

Healing instead of destruction,

And hope instead of despair,

Through the words we speak.
