A prayer in response to Philippians 4:6-7

Lord God,

There are so many things to worry about,

And each new day seems to bring more cares than the last,

When I think about all of my troubles and fears,

I quickly become overwhelmed,

I worry so much about the future,

That I am paralyzed from truly living in the present,

But Lord, I am reminded that you are not indifferent to our cares,

And that our every worry is known to you, even before we mention them,

I thank you for your loving care and faithfulness,

That in our times of greatest fear and distress,

We can confidently turn to you and lift up to you all of our worries,

And know that you will answer our prayers,

So Lord, I pray for mercy because I am overwhelmed by anxiety,

I repent and lift up to you everything that is troubling my mind at this moment,

I lift up to you even those cares of mine that seem small and trivial,

As well as those that are so distressing that I cannot even express them in words,

Lord, I pray that your peace will fill my heart and mind,

And keep me ever focussed and trusting in Christ,

May I know your peace even in the most troubling circumstances,

And find rest in continually lifting my burdens to you,

Please grant me the strength and wisdom to be able to make the right decisions,

And to be able to handle my worries and concerns effectively at the proper time,

But also teach me not to look too far into the future,

And to tackle each day one at a time,

I pray that you would help me not to be distracted by the fears of what lies ahead,

So that I can live for you in the present moment,

With your peace there to guard me through the storms of life,

May I continue to worship you in faith and with thanksgiving.
