“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” John 11:39b NIV
Had not Martha just a few verses earlier say to Jesus that she knew the Father would grant to Him whatever He asked? Yet here she questions His command. Was there doubt in her mind and heart?
We all have times that doubt creeps into us, even with Jesus. If nothing else we might doubt that anything will be done for us, as we do not deserve God’s love and mercy. That may be true, but it does not impact who God is and what He chooses to do.
Do not be surprised if you are asked by Christ to do something that appears to be contrary to what you would expect to be asked to do. God works as He will. We often do not understand, but we are to have faith and believe. Do as the Lord says and watch the power of the Lord be revealed.
