At His Feet

When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” John 11:32 NIV

There are a few things to note here. First, Mary fell at the feet of the Lord. Remember this is the lady who sat at the feet of the Lord to listen to Him as her sister Martha had been busy with duties as the head of the house. This woman knew the presence of being at the feet of the Master.

Secondly, notice that just like her older sister had she said to Christ that if He had been there her brother would not have died. These two ladies knew about the power of Christ, though they equated it to His physical presence. They were not able to see though that with God, distance is not an issue.

The third thing I notice, which is a bit surprising to me, is that she stops speaking after saying that if Jesus had been there her brother would not have died. Martha had taken it a step further in saying that whatever He asked of the Father would be granted to Him. Had Martha shown a bit more faith here than Mary had? I am not sure of that. It is just a noticed observation.

What are our thoughts and words when we come before the Lord? Just remember when you go before the Lord, that with Him nothing is beyond the realm of possibility.
