When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him. When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there. John 11:29 and 31 NIV
Mary leaving quickly to see Jesus drew attention from some of the present mourners and thus they followed after Mary. I believe that most of these who followed did have good intentions in mind, but even in grief sometimes we need to be alone in our mourning.
When providing comfort to one who mourns do remember that there will be times when solitude is needed. One can always offer support yet let the mourner know that we are aware that sometimes solitude is also needed. Just have your heart in the right place and assistance and support offered will be greatly appreciated and accepted when needed.
