After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “The Teacher is here,” she said, “and is asking for you.” John 11:28 NIV
Why did Martha call Mary aside? Martha had had her time alone with the Lord, and now the elder sister wanted to make sure her younger sister would be able to have time separately with the Lord, as He had called for her to come to Him. If she had just told Mary in front of all the mourners they would have asked Mary for permission to accompany her. Mary needed time alone with Jesus as well.
Just as Jesus called for Mary then, so He calls to us today to come to meet Him. Do we accept His calling and come to meet Him with our sorrows, joys, hurts? Do we come to Him praising and worshipping Him? Hopefully we choose to accept the calling of the Lord to come to Him.
