She was a farmers daughter
The kind that always made trouble for me
Like taking dips in the river with our clothes on shore
Her father helped people feel more like themselves
Or more like people they’d like to be

I had nightmare when I realized
This dream was something not worth chasing
Drunk on my own emotion I began to hate the simple
person I was taught to be

Guess sometimes we all get jealous of that guy
The one who feels good to be himself
Or at least feels like someone that he would like to be
He is telling no lies cause he’s really that dumb

She was a peace makers daughter
The kind that always made me laugh
Like walking up on my toes in the kitchen
Her father was being helped by some guy behind a counter
Trying to figure out who he’d like to be

I keep on daydreaming these days and I’ve realized
These dreams they are my reality
Drunk on my spiritual high I began to seek a simple life
left behind me

Guess sometimes we get confused about who we should be
Like chasing redheads around even though they will always break your heart
Better to be simple cause that’s easy
And I’m telling no lies, cause I won’t believe them anymore
