My nephew was killed in a tragic car accident at the beginning of December.  The other person in the car was critically injured but will survive.  It will be a different kind of Christmas this year, but out of this tragedy are coming renewed relationships and appreciation and love for one another.

Christians are not exempt from suffering.  Let’s be honest with one another, and when telling others about Christ.  Life is not wonderful all the time.  We experience difficulties just like the rest of the world. There are untimely deaths, problems in marriages, and in raising families, difficulties in being single, divorces, financial problems, difficulties in the workplace and ministry, and the list goes on.   But Jesus helps us in our afflictions and helps us to overcome. He’s our strength. We then have compassion for those we meet who have experienced or are experiencing the same suffering we have endured. To portray a life that is wonderful all the time without any problems is fake. I did that in the past, but not anymore.

This Christmas season as we shop for groceries, fill our car with gas, withdraw money from the bank, (if we have any), let’s be sensitive to those around us. As we well know, many are suffering losses of different kinds, and many are suicidal. We can smile with our eyes, give a kind word of encouragement, and most of all share Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior with them. He loves them so much and wants them to know Him personally too.

Let’s appreciate and love our families, in particular, this season, forgiving and asking forgiveness if necessary. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

2 Cor. 1:3,4  (NKJ) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
