As hard as the Jewish leaders worked to eliminate Christ, His death had nothing to do with their ability and everything to do with the authority given to the Son by the Father. Christ came that through belief in Him we might have eternal life as He bore all our sins on the cross. He had the authority to take the sin of mankind with Him to the cross, as He was the only atonement that was perfect and could bring mankind back to their creator. Christ also had the authority to be raised from death. This was all given the Son by the Father. Everything that happened in terms of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ fell under the authority given to Him by the Father.

This is so very wonderful to all of us who believe in Jesus Christ. He gave Himself freely and obediently on our behalf.
