Finding Pasture

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. John 10:9 NIV

First, we see here that it is in and through Christ that one is saved. There is no other way to attain salvation than through Jesus Christ.

Secondly, the sheep pen, the haven of rest is available for the believer to enter and exit through Christ. One can come in during time of danger or at night. One can choose to go out during the day into the world, knowing that the shepherd goes ahead of them.

Finally, what is the finding pasture referring to? I believe it refers to the daily nourishment that the believer needs as he goes through life. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit, the believer is reminded of the Lord’s words to us. Reading the Bible is also finding nourishment needed.

Yes, through Christ we are saved, can enter and exit the sheep pen, and know that when we go out into the world we still find pasture in the presence of our Lord.

I shall be away from home for a few days, but shall return soon enough to again share God’s word with all you beautiful people.
