Of course, the Jewish leaders did not understand. Their minds were closed to anything which did not totally adhere to their way of thinking. They did not understand because they did not listen, as they wanted to find a cause to have Jesus killed. They had no place in their thinking for figurative speaking. They just thought He was a crazy man, rambling on, and making no sense. And they felt threatened by Him. They knew He was a threat to their way of thinking and how they ruled over the people.
May Jesus be at the center of your heart, with the Holy Spirit directing your thoughts, words, and actions as you follow the Lord!
