Mud For The Eyes

After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. John 9:6 NIV

Did you know that in the time of Christ, saliva was often used in dealing with a person’s blindness? The mud (or clay) which Christ made using the saliva would more readily stay upon the man’s eyes until he went to the Pool of Siloam and wash it away from his eyes.

Did you notice that this blind man had not asked Jesus to do anything for him? Jesus did this of His own choice, as He had noticed the blind man while passing by. Jesus wanted to bring light to this man’s eyes, but more importantly to his heart and soul.

When you belong to Christ there will come times when He does things for you without you even asking. He wants you to grow in love and obedience to Him. Who better than He knows you and what you really need? Let Christ bring the Light that is Truth into your heart and soul!
