“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” John 8:19b NIV

Notice that Jesus does not answer the question as to where His Father is. His hour to suffer had not yet come and therefore He did not wish to make a direct statement that He was from God the Father. Instead though He lets the Pharisees know that they do not know either Him or the Father. It sure must have been a slap in the face to the Pharisees to have one tell them that they did not know God. They prided themselves on knowing God’s word. They may have known what the Bible said, but they certainly did not put that knowledge into practice. Instead they made God’s word into man-made laws that they could claim to know. They certainly were so wrong in their interpretation of God’s word.
