They're Back Again

The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid." John 8:13 NIV

We do not know how much time elapsed between Jesus speaking to the adulteress and starting to speak again to the people but sure enough, the Pharisees are back again to antagonize Him and dispute that which He says. Just another thing that reveals their true character. They can leave when Christ speaks of their sinfulness but immediately can be present when He again speaks to the gathered crowd.

They speak of how what He says has no merit as He is speaking on His own behalf. The problem is they don’t know who He really is and are not willing to accept the truth. They want to live in their own world where they are in charge. Also, if someone else came speaking on their own behalf quite possibly the Pharisees would listen to such a one.
