The Planning Phase

At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. John 7:30 NIV

How is it that if they tried to arrest Jesus that no one laid a hand on him? This might seem a bit conflicting but what they were doing currently was planning out how they were going to arrest and try Jesus for so called committed criminal acts. This was being planned by the Sanhedrin and not the general public. The planning would result in the eventual arrest of Jesus, but at the proper time and in the manner foretold within scripture.
