Recognition Not For Self

Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. John 7:14 NIV

This particular feast lasted eight days so when He went to the temple to begin to speak it was about the fourth day of the Festival. We do not know how long Jesus had been at the festival for as we know He went there some time after His brothers had already departed. He had probably been enjoying the festival environment and watching how the crowds reacted. The day He went to the temple to preach quite possibly was a Sabbath as many would gather at the temple on the Sabbath. Our Lord’s current message was to share of the Father’s love for mankind. Jesus did not seek recognition for Himself but for the One who sent Him. When we share the Good News we need to always seek recognition for our Lord and not for ourselves.
