Why Not Go To Judea?

But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was near, Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.” John 7:2-3 NIV

In light of the fact that recently many of Jesus’ disciples had left Him because of His hard teaching about Him being the bread of life, it might appear that His relatives, including His brothers did not want to see Him lose even more of those who had chosen to follow Him. And so, they suggest to Him with the upcoming Feast of Tabernacles that He should venture to Judea and let His disciples there see the works He was doing. The problem lies in the fact though that His brothers did not yet truly understand Him nor His earthly mission. Their belief would not come until after His resurrection from the dead.
