On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?" John 6:60 NIV
“If I cannot grasp and understand your idea, it must not be valid and I therefore cannot accept it.”. In today’s political environment the attitude of many seems to adhere to this idea. Why must we totally be able to understand something in order to accept it. Have we really become a world full of people with no faith at all?
Everything in this world is not simple. Some teachings are quite hard to understand, filled with much symbolism. Sometimes we need to think outside the box. There are times we have to say that we don’t totally understand, yet we believe. We will not fully understand God while we live in our human flesh. If we wish to have an eternity with God we must come to realize that faith must be an integral part of our character. Only then can we accept that which we do not understand.
