But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. John 6:50 NIV
Although the ancestors of these Jews had eaten manna in the desert and yet died, Jesus is offering to those present, and to us today a new bread, a bread which is not meant for nourishing the physical body, but is meant for nourishing the soul. It is meant to awaken the spirit of man and remove the death of the spirit. To communicate with God we must do so in spirit, and through Jesus Christ this is made available. Through Christ, the heavenly Father will send the Holy Spirit to those who believe in Jesus. Our spirit is then awakened to the Spirit of God living within us. Our spirit is no longer dead but truly alive. Notice here that Christ says this “bread” is available for anyone, anyone who will come to Him and put their faith and trust in Him.
When did you accept Christ’s invitation to receive the living bread? Know that with that acceptance your life was changed forever!
