We know that much regret comes from wrong decisions made in the past, but people may live to regret even right decisions when there are consequences enough that come to bear because of those right decisions. In such cases even the regret cannot undo the rightness of the decisions. Just as regret cannot undo the wrongness or the consequences of poor decisions, neither can regret undo the rightness of a decision, no matter how difficult living with that decision proves to be. There is a tendency to second guess those costly right decisions. But there is a comfort in holding onto the rightness of the decision in the midst of the suffering it causes.
