Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35 NIV

No matter how good it tastes, nor how matter how much we eat of any earthly food, we will come to hunger again. Earthly food was never intended to permanently satisfy our need for more food. The same can be said for earthly drink. As Jesus had told the Samaritan woman at the well all who would come to draw water from the well would thirst again.

Here though Jesus tells us that whoever comes to Him shall not hunger. In other words, those who come to Jesus with a repentant, contrite heart, and confess their need for a Savior shall not be sent away in need. Christ is the spiritual food which we need each day to combat the forces of evil. Evil is so prevalent in our world and we, on our own will succumb to this evil. But with Christ in our lives we can be blessed with the seal of salvation. Our eternal future is in the Lord’s hands and we move into sharing the Good News with others who seek the Truth. If you have a true hunger and thirst which the world cannot fulfill, then turn to the Lord! You shall be filled with eternal food by Him!
