For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. John 5:18 NIV
Yes, Jesus is divine, and in so stating that the Father was His Father He infuriated the Jewish leaders, who now wanted all the more to kill Him.
What might we also learn from this verse? The Truth must be spoken, regardless of fear of potential danger to ourselves or for enraging others with what we say. How can we consider ourselves to be ambassadors for Christ if we are not willing and ready to share the Truth? Speak the Truth boldly!
