We are not made aware of what this man’s disease was but we do know that it kept him from being able to walk. The fact that he had this infirmity for thirty-eight years makes us wonder how he could have had any hope of recovery left. But he lay in the house of mercy. Why did he lie there? He probably knew that this would be his only hope for a recovery, even though the chance was quite faint.
Do you have bothersome things for which you see no possible hope for recovery? Do you take these circumstances before the Lord? If you do so, you most certainly can then have hope. Christ heals in many ways. Your healing may be different from that for which you hope but realize that Christ can provide healing in any manner He chooses to do. Take your petitions before the Lord.
