Nehemiah was cup bearer to the king Artaxerxes of Persia. Father of king was killed by his own attendant. Nehemiah was kept in such confidential place to taste. Hananiah means Lord is gracious and he was brother of Nahum-iah. The same came from Jerusalem meaning Jehovah is my shalom. And conveyed the desolation situation of city of the Great King to exiles in Persia. The meaning of Nehemiah is Lord comforts and he did experience Lord most practically.

Then Nehemiah mourned and fasted many days and prayed about -

Bases his prayer on the character of God saying you are great, awesome and upright. Praise always greater than prayer. Fasting results in much spiritual.

Confesses sin. He confesses own and Israeli sin. If you confess your sin God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. When confess devils flee. Confess all known sin.

Claims the promises of God. Remember is the key word in Nehemiah. He prayed remember Lord the commandment you gave to your servant Moses regarding the children of Israel. If repentance then promise land and if disobedience then exiled. Ponder promises and take promise to preach.

Till now he changed Jerusalem information into God intercession. But now he travelled to change report of Jerusalem to request before king.

Be specific. I am going to King, Lord God give me success today. Let him send me to Jerusalem with cavalry, upholstery and permission letters to king provinces I pass by. Conspirators contemplations were lost. General prayer has general answer and specific prayer has specific answer.

King permitted. Decrees were passed on March 14, 445 BC. Nehemiah went and mended walls around Jerusalem for 52 days. His life shows commitment to celebrate. He said the joy of the Lord is my strength. He was distressed that Jerusalemites renounced the pledges - renting temple premises, concerning tithes, keeping Sabbaths and marrying gentiles. He told please REMEMBER. Nehemiah is a man who prays before pronouncing anything.
