Asking God

He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (Luke 10:2 NIV)

It is important to ask God for our needs, but there is much more we need to be asking Him for. We need to ask Him what His will for our lives is. He has great and wonderful plans for us, but we can’t accomplish them if we don’t know what they are.

Jesus commanded His disciples to go into all the world and spread the gospel. He still asks that of us today. In this parable, Jesus was referring to this concept. The unbelievers are ready and waiting for us to come and share Jesus with them. They might not know it is God they are searching for, but many know they have a hole in their lives that just cannot be filled. They are yearning for you to bring them the peace that only Christ can give.

We need to be asking God to send out workers into the harvest because as Jesus said, the workers are few. We need to be asking Him to send us. We can be the person that changes someone’s life forever. We don’t have to go around the world to accomplish this. We can go into our own neighborhoods or talk to people around us. Just ask God to send you and He will. If you can’t go yourself, pray for those who do.

Lord, I just ask you to use me today. I invite you into my life and I’m willing to do whatever you ask of me. Thank you for courage. In Jesus Name, Amen.
