Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever mine (Ps. 119:98).
The book of Psalms was an expression of praise and worship to our Almighty God. The psalmist used to describe the "Word of God" as commandments, law, testimonies, ordinances, and precepts. The word commandment in Hebrew is "tsavah" meaning, to lay charge (upon), give charge (to), command, or order.
For example, looking back at David's life, he became a skillful musician and a very talented warrior who made himself the greatest king of Israel. Obviously, it was the result of his faith and obedience to God's command of becoming him wiser. Besides, he treated God's precepts with eternal value as he echoed in verses 97-98, O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever [as] mine.
So, paying attention to God's word and becoming an effectual doer are the most reliable defenses against the lies and deception of the world. For instance, the devil counterfeits the works of God. They offered false hope, fake miracles, distorted gospel, and lying visions to pull the Christians in the wrong directions. Such, life without the shield of truth is prone to deception, disappointment, and falsehood (Psalm 119:101).
Indeed, the consistency of scriptures from the Old Testament to the New Testament is an undeniable truth. Abiding by it every day it will give us the surest way to excellence. The Bible says, If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you (John 15:7).
