IT MATTERS NOT WHAT WE DO

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

How are you managing and surviving this most unusual time in our lives, the time which is so rightly named a Coronavirus pandemic? The word 'pandemic' in and of itself brings with it a throng of adjectives, none of which are good, such as plague, sickness, disease, and the like. All surface as a by-product of the unpleasant, all-encompassing 'doom and gloom.'

Pandemics are not new to this divinely created universe of ours. (Genesis 1:1) Many have raised their ugly heads down through the ages. And as this old universe is, it will continue to be till God the Father blows the final trumpet. (I Corinthians 15:51-52) (I Thessalonians 4:16-18)

Anxiety , stress and fear come naturally with such pandemics as this one. We are to have fear in the sense of awe (II Timothy 1:7) but not cowardice. 

Realizing human nature is what it is, the adjective of fear is the first that comes into play in such times as this, down here on this unsettled earth. Nonetheless, Scripture has an answer to this as well. (I Peter 1:17)

We must not let this world’s fears and dangers get the best of us. The Scripture is plain in its depiction of this trait. (Ephesians 6:12) You see, our enemies are the demonic hosts of Satan, always assembled for mortal combat.

We must in turn put on the whole armor of God to defeat this wicked enemy of ours. (Ephesians 6:13-17) In doing so, prayer will surely get us through this unpleasant pandemic. (Ephesians 6:18)

The origin and purpose of this specific pandemic is divinely ordained to be above my pay grade. However, I can still do my part as a child of the Creator to act like His inspired Creation. (Genesis 1:26-27) I should not resort to undue panic, so I make the age-old cliché of “This Too Will Pass” my motto. 

It matters not what we do or how we do it
As long as it’s in the right frame of mind
It matters not what we do or how we do it
The simplest task will be a good sign
It matters not what we do or how we do it
Out of the doom and gloom, we will climb
It matters not what we do or how we do it
Write a note, call a friend, to all be kind
It matters not what we do or how we do it
Read a book, listen to soft music if inclined
It matters not what we do or how we do it
To nature’s wonderful beauty we sublime
It matters not what we do or how we do it
Do what is needed to the chores we define
It matters not what we do or how we do it
Read the Word, to our knees we recline
It matters not what we do or how we do it
Simply talk with Him with like minds aligned
It matters not what we do or how we do it
As long as it’s in the right frame of mind
