We  are not divine, never have been,  and never will be .
But we are partakers of participating  in the divine nature and there is a crucial difference between the two. 
Divinity indwells us as believers. 
Divinity can even fill us,  but still without our being divine. 
We are at one with Divinity the way the parts or members of the body are at one with the head of the body, without being the head or without being Divine ourselves. And yet,  if we take the analogy to its limit and a little beyond,  the head of a person is not more that person than the hand of the person. The hand of the person is no less the person than the head of the person is that person. 
To sum up,  we are as involved and intermingled with Divinity as we could possibly be without being divine ourselves. 
But at the same time,  the highest to which we can ever rise or legitimately aspire is glorified humanity. Still that is no small aspiration.
