If it seems as though life keeps pushing you down,
And the weakness of the flesh continues to have you bound,
God is trying to get to the very depths of your heart
To bring out what’s tearing you apart
From Him and His will for your life,
And His efforts sometimes require trouble and strife.
If everything you do seems to fail,
And you feel as if your life is a living hell,
God is trying to pull out what makes you sin,
And the truth of your weakness lies deep within.
If your marriage and relationships continue to struggle for success,
And you always seem to be confronted with drama and mess,
God is trying to get to the apple of your eye
So that you will pick up your cross, follow Him, and your flesh deny.
If your finances seem to keep you down and depressed,
And your efforts for prosperity are far from success,
God is trying to show you that the god you serve and praise
Is not He, the one who numbers your days.
Your trials may be a source
Of showing you what’s taking you off the course
That God has set before you,
And to really see, there are some things you must go through.
God is trying to get to the truth about the god you really serve;
The truth about what takes and shakes your nerve
When it comes to standing up for what is right;
Just what is it that makes you put up a great and mighty fight?
When God looks deep within your mind, body, soul and heart,
What will lie as the truth that tears you apart?
Will it be fear of your soul being lost,
Or, sacrificing all you have be the cost
To get your attention and make you realize and understand
That your life lies in God’s hand?
Will it be the love and devotion for your spouse?
Will it be the adoration of your car and house?
Will it be your children in whom you have so much pride?
Will it be a commitment to that friend in whom you always confide?
Just what is it that controls the desires of your heart, body, soul and mind?
When God uncovers your desires, just what will He find?
The truth will lie open for all to see
What’s standing between you and your eternal destiny.
