"And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood
to view afar off: and they two passed by Jordan." 2 Kings 2:7. King James Version.


To live a joyous life calls for identifying your area of interest that makes you happy and strengthens you, even physically. You engage in this only for a regular period of time, daily, weekly or monthly, or as the case may be.


This is part of living a meaningful and successful life.
Certainly, it is self - defeating and destoying to live your life as a spectator of others' lives. What am I saying? There is no gain saying the fact that there are certain people who live their lives watching whether or not someone or some people will fall or not. A part of such people will even go an extra mile to plot the fall of others.


My beloved reader, let us consider a few things about people who are life spectators. This will assist in examining yourself whether you are one of them or not you will also be aware of it when you are drifting towards being one


One, they are men. These spectators are men, not animals or spirits. Men are created to be positively occupied for God and His creature, strict instruction given to first man, Adam, was to dress it and to keep it. " Genesis 2:15.
This implies that man was not created to be a spectator of God's creation but to dress and keep the garden in which he was to live.


Two, they always have peers. There are different types of groups of people. It is essential to carefully select which you will belong. In the quoted verse, there is a group of fifty men who were spectators in the life of another man, Elisha, who happens to be their colleague. Are you a member of any group who are ever busy viewing others success without aiming to have success?
Watch well!


Third, it is sad that being a spectator in life does not exonerate the religious or the spiritual. The spectators in the quoted verse were "the sons of prophets" who saw visions of heaven. They saw a vision of God of Israel taking Elijah away from the earth (and from Elisha). Instead of keeping quiet and watch Him carrying out His plan, they went ahead to tell Elisha. Sad enough they did not learn a lesson from Elisha 's class when they declared their vision about his boss. Elisha told them, "Yea, i know, hold ye your peace." that is in 2 Kings 2:3. They came together to view what will become of him. So it is with every life spectator.


Fourth, another fact about life spectator(s) is that they "went and stood" everywhere and everytime to "view" what is happening and will happen to someone somewhere. Their expectations are always negative about other person. It is their pre - occupation daily. They are never tired or wearied, they do so continuously.


Five, they are good reporters. They report all that they see and imagined. They do not run away from the truth also, sometimes. When Elisha became successful in his pursuit, they chorused, "The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before kim." 2 Kings 2:15.
They celebrated a celibrity.
That is the plight of life spectators. They always bow to the successful whom they have been viewing. They remain at the bottom. They are at the basement.


Six, A life spectator is always swallowed up by the crowd. That is, they are always lost in the crowd. You cannot identify him. He is only known as a member of a group. No more! No less!
The Holy Bible has no record of the names of any of the fifty men. It is only their collective name "fifty men" that they are known by. Do you want to be lost in the crowd of life?


Therefore, channel a meaningful course for yourself. Live a meaningful life. Have a focus. If you do not stand up for something, you will fall for anything. Have a choice. Pursue what will glorify the Lord in your life. Carve your own canoe. Carve it right and nice. Mind your destiny to fulfil it. Let people be your spectators, do not be a spectator of other people's lives. It shall be well with you in Jesus name.
